Hi, I’m Bart! I live in the deepest burrow 🎵 in all of Pine Corner. I’m telling you, my house is really cool – I have three rooms, a soft bed made of dry leaves, and a pantry where I keep the fattest worms saved for a rainy day. But today, I don’t want to talk about my home. I want to tell you about a day when I felt… well, very strange.

I was sitting in Sunny Meadow, munching on a snack 🎵, when suddenly I heard loud clapping 🎵. I looked up, and whoosh! All I saw was a fluffy red tail 🎵. It was Fiona Squirrel jumping from branch to branch 🎵 like a streak of lightning. She did flips, spins, and somersaults that made my jaw drop right onto the moss 🎵.

“Bravo, Fiona!” called Zoey Hare.

“You are so talented!” cheered Henry Hedgehog.

“Wonderful!” squeaked the other animals.

And me? I just sat there with my worm in my paw, and suddenly, my ears felt hot 🎵. My tummy started to squeeze and 🎵 prickle. I thought, “Why does no one ever clap like that when I do something?” I can dig the best dens in the forest! My tunnels are straight as an arrow and never fall down! But who would clap for someone digging in the dirt?

That evening, I lay in my bed but couldn’t sleep 🎵. I tossed and turned, and my leafy blanket kept falling off 🎵.

“I want to jump in the trees, too,” I mumbled. “It’s not fair! Squirrels have such light, quick legs, and I have these big, heavy paws that are only good for digging in the dirt!”

The next day, I got up very early. I went to the lowest pine tree at the edge of the meadow. I looked around to make sure no one was watching.

“One, two, three! I am a super squirrel!” I whispered and jumped 🎵.

THUMP!

I landed flat on my tummy 🎵. Leaves got stuck in my nose, and a mean little twig got tangled in my tail.
