It was an especially peaceful, cozy 🎵 autumn morning in Forest Meadow. The sweet smell of cinnamon filled the big red fire station. Henry the Hedgehog was humming a cheerful tune as he took warm, crunchy cookies out of the oven 🎵.
Fiona Fox sat on a wooden bench, practicing tying knots in thick rescue ropes. She paid close attention to every move 🎵, carefully looping the ends to make strong knots. Beside her, Winky the sparrow perched on the windowsill, watching her clever paws with interest.
“I’m getting good at this!” Fiona said with a big smile. “I have a feeling this will be a wonderful day. I’m ready for anything!”
Suddenly, the sharp clang of the alarm bell 🎵 broke the quiet. It echoed through every room in the fire station. The firefighters sprang into action 🎵. Derek the Dog, the fire chief, came out of his office with a serious look on his face.
“Team, we have a call for help!” he announced in a calm, firm voice. “A very thick, milky fog has settled over the forest. Gerry the Pigeon was delivering the morning mail when he lost his way. He’s somewhere near Whispering Grove, and he’s very frightened. We need to help him!”
Betty the Bear ran straight to the red fire truck.
“Climb in!” she called, turning the key 🎵.
The engine came to life with a deep, rumbling growl. Fiona grabbed her yellow helmet and the ropes she had been practicing with, then climbed into the back seat. Winky settled beside her. Once everyone had fastened their seat belts, Betty carefully drove out of the station. The siren began to wail 🎵, warning everyone nearby, and the headlights lit up the road ahead.
Beyond the town, the fog was even thicker. It looked like a giant cloud of white cotton candy. Trees and bushes vanished into it. Only a short stretch of road just in front of the truck was visible. Betty slowed down even more. The wheels rolled slowly over wet leaves, pressing them into the road 🎵.
Suddenly, something appeared in the headlights. Betty pressed the brake pedal and stopped the truck 🎵. A thick tree branch lay across the forest road, blocking the way to Whispering Grove.
“It’s too heavy for us to move with just our paws,” said Betty, looking worried.
Fiona looked down at her rescue ropes.
“I have an idea!” she cried, climbing out of the truck.
Thanks to her practice that morning, the young fox quickly wrapped a rope around the branch and tied a strong knot 🎵. She fastened the other end to the truck’s tow hook. Chief Derek checked that everything was secure and made sure everyone stood a safe distance away. Only then did Betty slowly back the truck toward the edge of the road, pulling the branch out of the way 🎵.
The way was clear again! Fiona felt a little burst of pride. But she knew their biggest challenge was still ahead.
