Benny the Bunny could hum any song 🎵 about firefighters. He could even wrap a present all by himself 🎵 in the shiniest paper in the whole wide world 🎵. But there was one thing he couldn’t do at all. He didn’t know what to do when things got too loud 🎵.
It was Saturday afternoon. Benny marched proudly to a birthday party 🎵 for his best friend, Buster the Puppy. He wore a green polka-dot bow tie, and in his paws, he carried a giant box tied with a bright red ribbon.
As soon as the door opened 🎵, he smelled the wonderful, sweet scent of carrot cake. Then, he saw the birthday boy doing a happy little dance 🎵.
“This is going to be the best birthday ever 🎵!” thought Benny, hopping up and down with joy 🎵.
The party was so much fun! Buster ran in circles as fast as a tiny tornado 🎵. Cleo the Cat was building a giant tower out of colorful paper cups on the table. It reached almost all the way to the lamp! Tilly the Guinea Pig was carefully picking raisins out of a little bowl to eat.
Everything was absolutely perfect… until Buster’s uncle turned the music up as loud as it could go 🎵 and handed out party horns 🎵 to everyone.
Suddenly, the room turned into one giant, super-loud party. Boom, boom, boom! The heavy bass from the speakers made the floor shake. Sharp, squeaky honks came from every corner of the room, ringing right in his ears. Buster barked happily and very loudly 🎵 right next to Benny, trying to pop a crinkly party hat 🎵 onto his head.
And right then, just inches away, a yellow balloon popped 🎵. BANG! It sounded like a blast from a real cannon.
For a bunny’s sensitive ears, it was just too much. Way, way too much.
Benny felt like his head had suddenly grown big and tight, like a hot-air balloon. The fur on his back stood up like an angry hedgehog’s prickles, and his cheeks turned as red as tomatoes. Benny gritted his teeth. Before he could even think, his back right foot hit the floor.
THUMP!
THUMP!
THUMP!
Benny pressed both paws over his ears as hard as he could. He squeezed his eyes shut and started flapping his elbows up and down, just like a broken helicopter 🎵. Buster, who had no idea how Benny was feeling, tried again to put the party hat on his head. Terrified and upset, Benny pushed him away 🎵. He acted without thinking; he just wanted to make the awful noise stop!
Surprised, Buster tripped over his own paws and bumped right into the table 🎵. The table wobbled wildly! The wonderful, giant tower of paper cups swayed back and forth 🎵, and in a split second, it crashed to the floor 🎵.
