Ruby the Racecar: Mission Duckling
About This Story
This heartwarming story follows Ruby, a small red racecar who dreams of racing glory but is held back by her fears. When a family of ducklings gets stranded on a busy street, Ruby must overcome her anxiety to save a tiny duckling from danger. With her friends—Mr. Bigwheel the monster truck, Sunny the taxi, Leo the muddy hatchback, and Bluebell the delivery van—Ruby learns that true courage isn't about never feeling afraid, but about taking action even when you're scared. Children will learn about bravery, friendship, and how our biggest strengths often emerge when others need our help.
In the town of Warkotville, the day didn’t begin with a rooster’s crow, but with the collective coughing of hundreds of engines 🎵. Vroom-put-put-cough! – echoed through 🎵 the picturesque, albeit slightly crooked streets. Warkotville was a place where every vehicle had its routine, and the biggest attraction of the day was usually an oil change at Mechanic Zeno’s.
In the heart of this peaceful, puttering world, in a cozy, wax-scented garage, lived Ruby. Ruby was a small, red racecar. She had an aerodynamic shape, gleaming paint the shade of a ripe strawberry, and a spoiler that gave her style. She was built for speed.
The problem was that Ruby was… well, a bit cowardly.
Her engine was powerful, but the little heart under her hood beat anxiously. Whenever she drove onto the bumpy roads of Warkotville, her suspension trembled, and from her exhaust pipe came a comical, nervous sneeze 🎵: A-choo! Put-put! Ruby dreamed of grand rallies, of trophies and applause, but for now, her greatest adventure was getting to the car wash without hitting any potholes.
That Tuesday, Ruby was polishing her rims, dreaming of the racetrack, when a powerful thud shook 🎵 the garage.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Mr. Bigwheel stood in the doorway. He was a gigantic, orange monster truck, whose tires were taller than Ruby’s roof. When he spoke, the windows rattled.
“EMERGENCY 🎵!” roared Mr. Bigwheel, with sand sprinkling from his massive grille. “CRISIS ON MAIN STREET 🎵! RESCUE TEAM NEEDED! SMALL CREATURES IN GREAT DANGER!”
Ruby shrank back, retreating to the darkest corner of the garage.
“Oh dear,” she squeaked. “Maybe we should call the fire department? I’m just… um… checking my tire pressure. Very important task.”
Fortunately, the rest of the team 🎵 rolled in behind Mr. Bigwheel. First came Sunny, a yellow taxi who kept his headlights on even on sunny days. Behind him, splashing mud from his wheel wells, rushed Leo – a green hatchback who believed that a clean car was an unhappy car. Last, wobbling from side to side, rolled in Bluebell – a plump, blue delivery van who always had plenty of crazy ideas.
“Ruby, no time for chickening out!” called Bluebell cheerfully, opening her rear doors with a loud 🎵 creak. “Bigwheel says it’s serious. Someone needs quick help!”
